


Biography
Praised for her warm, versatile voice and dynamic acting skill, Becca Allen is a mezzo-soprano based in Boston, MA. An accomplished crossover artist in both opera and musical theater repertoire, her recent engagements include Sesto (La clemenza di Tito ), Carmen (Carmen ), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Jo, Meg, and Cecilia March (Little Women ), Bradamante (Alcina ), The Narrator/Mysterious Man (Into the Woods ), Sonia (Godspell), Hucklebee (The Fantasticks ), among others.
Becca can next be seen in concert singing in NEMPAC's fundraising Cabaret this September. She returns to the operatic stage throughout the Opera on the James fall season as a Tyler Young Artist, culminating with the role of "Dritte Dame" in Die Zauberflöte.
Becca was named a District Encouragement Award winner in the 2024 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, a finalist in Boston University's 2024 Soloist Competition, and a 2024 Departmental Award winner by BU’s prestigious Opera Institute.
Becca has performed numerous choral and orchestral works, with highlights such as the Storyteller in Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale, the Alto soloist in Mozart’s Missa Brevis in F Major with Boston’s acclaimed Church of the Advent choir, as well as an Alto soloist for Mozart’s Requiem in D minor with BU’s Chamber Orchestra and Symphonic Chorus. In December 2024, she made her Handel's Messiah debut with two engagements: making her Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) debut with the Handel and Haydn Society chorus under the baton of Jonathan Cohen and as the Alto soloist with the First Church in Chestnut Hill.
Becca is often asked to contribute her knowledge of dance and choreography to various productions, and has had the opportunity to choreograph dance sequences (San Francisco Conservatory's Threepenny Opera) and stage combat, both hand-to-hand and broadsword (Mass Opera's Alcina and Boston Summer Opera's Rigoletto and The Pirates of Penzance). She holds multiple gold medals in Standard Ballroom Dance at the Open Gold level.
She has had the privilege to be included in several premieres of new work and recording projects from such composers as Joan Tower and Roxanne Winslow, as well as her own work recording in Folk and Irish styles. A favorite contemporary performance memory in 2025 was singing "Wild Mountain Thyme", "Give it Time", and "Empress of Organos" with the band Goose during their stadium concert at Providence, Rhode Island's Amica Pavilion in front of an audience of 20,000.
Becca is a passionate advocate for community engagement in the arts and seeks to use her myriad of skills to support companies small and large. She has had the privilege of being hired to teach many masterclasses on music history, interpretation, stage and sword combat, and acting. An illustrator and graphic designer, she is also often called upon to design posters and other marketing material for local opera companies with the specific goal to help organizations of all sizes avoid the use of A.I.
Becca received a Performance Diploma from Boston University and her Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Redlands and a certificate in Graphic Design from CalArts.
